Work placements

Work experience while you study

Work experience and course placements can add real value to your qualification. This can help you gain an advantage in the graduate job market by developing valuable skills in areas like communication, time and project management, problem solving and team working.

Extended work-based placements are an integral part of many courses, such as nursing and teaching degrees.

Other courses, such as most Business courses, offer the option of work experience. This experience may take the form of a short placement, or may be a full ‘sandwich’ year (normally between the second and third years of a degree).

You can find out more about subject specific placements on individual course pages or through the academic department pages.
