What makes Leadership and Management at Worcester special?

Gain a degree while you work, with this innovative, work-based learning course which forms part of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. The course adopts a combination of taught and work-based learning approaches which means that you will utilise your workplace and existing knowledge to obtain a degree qualification. It is open to candidates in voluntary, as well as paid, work; who are looking to obtain a qualification in leadership and management, whilst continuing in part-time or full-time employment.

You will be able to attain your Foundation degree in two to three years.  You will then have the opportunity to top-up your qualification, in just one year to obtain a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management degree, if you wish.

Teaching and Assessment

How will you be taught?

This course's combination of study and work will prepare you well to progress within your organisation, to open doors to wider employability, and to enhance your personal and professional development.

You will build new knowledge/skills via a combination of 50% work-based experience, and 50% taught input. You will study in short, bite-sized blocks to fit in with work and personal commitments. The remainder of your learning will be acquired through implementing work-based initiatives, which will also enable you to make a visible difference in your organisation.

You will be taught by inspirational leaders who are experienced leadership and management consultants, developers, coaches and mentors.

Employability

The Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management is suitable for learners who are currently engaged in work related activities in the public or private sector, in charitable organisations or corporate businesses.  You will have aspirations for career development and through a combination of taught and coaching/action-learning techniques, you will be prepared for future progression within the organisation, wider employability and professional development.

We recognise that optimising both your present and future employment and earning potential are key factors in planning your learning and career development. Accordingly, this course:

  • Targets selected Employability Standards in every module. These are designed by Worcester Business School in consultation with employers – so you will always be able to see the employability relevance of what you are studying.
  • Includes automatic access to our electronic CV Compiler Tool to create a live and evidence-based CV.
  • Provides access to our broad network of business managers and employers (including our own Business School Advisory Board).
  • Offers access to a host of CV-enhancing co-curriculum activities such as our enterprise support, case study/business plan competitions, research projects, mentoring activities, etc.

Full-time tuition fees

Every course has day-to-day costs for basic books, stationery, printing and photocopying.  The amounts vary between courses.

Accommodation

Finding the right accommodation is paramount to your university experience, and our welcoming student communities are great places to live and study.

We have over 1,000 rooms across our halls, 358 of which were new in 2009. We offer halls of residence to suit every budget and need, from our 'Traditional Hall' at £94 per week to the £153 per week 'En-suite Extra'.
