What is Wider Horizons?

Wider Horizons
is an open online educational learning environment currently under development through the Lifelong Learning Network.  Wider Horizons is a joint project between the Herefordshire and Worcestershire LLN and the University of Worcester.

How will it work?

The social networking aspects of the portal will enable learners in the region to interact with each other and share ideas.

Students will have access to their own personal web space, and to a wide range of information resources. There will be links to courses in the region and advice and guidance for those wanting to apply.

As much as possible will be freely available through a public web space focussed on the LLN subject areas, with tasters from colleges and the University.

Who is it for?

Anyone, but mostly for potential and current students. Once someone has registered, Wider Horizons becomes essentially a portal where the user has full access to on-line courses, web based information resources, and support for learning and progression.

It will also play a role in providing resources for staff within the network, in sharing good practice and aiding communication and collaboration.

Development

The development of the portal is being informed by an executive group of experts from the LLN partners.

As the project progresses links to the portal site and other information will be posted on the LLN website.
